It’s been a few years since the new Norton Commando was made available in the US. Known as the 961, it was offered in 4 variants – the Sport, Cafe Racer, a limited production Special Edition, and the SF (Sport Factory).
All 961s get goodies like USD Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes
The Sport Factory model was released three years after the rest of the lineup, and it was top-of-the-line at the time (£2,000 more than the standard Sport model). Per the Norton Owners Club, differentiators included USD Ohlins forks, radial Brembo brake calipers, conventional handlebars, carbon fiber chain guard/rear hugger/license plate bracket and black chrome headers and exhausts.
Manufactured in July of 2012, this example is VIN: SAYCMF018DY005020. The seller acquired it in 2019 from a private party in Texas.
During his ownership, the seller covered approximately 1,500 miles. The odometer shows 5,435 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller has performed an oil/filter change, brake fluid flush, and installed new tires by himself. He states that there are no known mechanical issues.
Modifications:
Aftermarket ‘DT’ exhaust. Per the seller, “it is a full system with no catalytic converter. You will have to reprogram the ECU to run a system with a cat. If you look in the can, it has a megaphone in it with the small end pointed towards the engine.”
Bar end mirrors.
ProGrip tank protector.
Not pictured is a tubeless tire conversion.
Inside of the tank:
The sale includes the owner’s handbook, a shop manual and two sets of keys.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
Currently located in Tucson, Arizona this Norton is offered on a clean Arizona title with registration that expired in July of 2022.
