Introduced in 1994, the Speed Triple was named in honor of Triumph’s 1938 Speed Twin. It utilized Triumph’s popular inline triple engine in a streetfighter design that quickly earned a reputation as the hooligan’s bike of choice due to the torquey power delivery, excellent handling, and surprisingly comfortable ergonomics. It’s even the vehicle of choice of Wheelie University!
2011 brought a serious update to the Speed Triple lineup with an aluminum frame, restyled bug-eye headlights, lower seat, and a 1,050cc motor that produced 133 hp and 82 lb-ft of torque.
For 2013, Triumph introduced a Special Edition (SE) variant of the Bonneville and the Speed Triple. The latter got a Matte Graphite paint job, blue frame, tank stripes, and color-matched fly screen/belly pan/seat cowl, and Triumph produced just 200 of them.
It also got multiple carbon fiber pieces: the front fender, side pods, tank cover panel, and inner radiator panels.
Finally, the Speed Triple SE was differentiated with unique covers for the clutch, sprocket, and alternator, as well as a rubber tank pad, clear taillight, blue wheel pinstripes, new mirrors, and some blacked out pieces: the silencer heat shields, handlebars, and clamps.
This example is VIN: SMTN01PK9DT593723. The current seller acquired the motorcycle through a previous Iconic Motorbikes auction in May 2026. The seller states: “I have been looking for the perfect bike for me to ride when I visit Los Angeles, and after buying this for that purpose, I decided that I am most comfortable ripping around LA on a supermoto. This is a beautiful bike in great condition, but I determined too late that it didn’t fit my purpose.”
The odometer shows 4,490 miles.
