Introduced in 2012, the 1199 Panigale was a tremendous step up from the 1198. In their First Ride, Cycle World said “Its V-Twin makes power like no two-cylinder engine before it, and the way the chassis behaves, the way the bike feels, blows the performance window wide open and obliterates the memory of past Ducati superbikes.”
The new Superquadro motor put out a claimed 195 horsepower, making it the world’s most powerful production twin at the time, and with a curb weight of 414 pounds, Ducati claimed it had the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production bike when released. That ratio got even better with the R model, which was released to make the bike eligible for World Superbike racing. It featured titanium valves and connecting rods, two-ring pistons, and a tungsten-balanced crank, as well as Ohlins suspension, forged Marchesini wheels, lengthened wheelbase, and a titanium/carbon fiber Akrapovic exhaust with a Race ECU.
This example (VIN: ZDM14BPW9EB014980) is offered by the original owner, who bought it new from Marin Speed Shop on March 16, 2014.
The odometer shows 5,013 miles.

The seller states that there are no mechanical issues and that his bike has been “meticulously maintained.” He notes that the front fender “has a couple of pimples but no scratches or chips in the paint or the rest of the body work.” He applied 3M paint protection the first day he bought it.
The sale includes all manuals and original parts.
The seller is letting this bike go to fund the purchase of a 2021 Maico 685 Supermoto Racing. Currently located in Reno, Nevada, this Ducati is offered on a clean California title. The seller notes that he “recently moved to Nevada and the bike has Nevada plates now.” Have any 1199 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
