Introduced for the 2011 model year, the Monster 796 was designed to be a Goldilocks bike for riders who thought the 696 was too small and the 1100 was too big. It featured the 803cc motor from the Hypermotard in the Monster 1100 frame. Rated at 87 horsepower and 58 lb-ft of torque, the engine was paired with a slipper clutch and six-speed transmission.
