Click here for an CycleVIN Motorcycle History Report on this 2014 Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

It’s been a few years since the new Norton Commando was made available in the US. Known as the 961, it was offered in 4 variants – the SF, Sport, Cafe Racer, and a limited production Special Edition.

All 961s get goodies like USD Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes and the differences between variants was primarily cosmetic.

The Cafe Racer was granted its name due to clip on handlebars and a carbon fiber flyscreen.

The seller of this example (VIN: SAYCMC016EY005114) is the original owner. He purchased it from Munroe Motors in San Francisco, California.

The odometer shows 1,222 miles.

Modifications:
Tail tidy. The sale includes the original license plate bracket.

Rizoma bar end mirrors.

Norton slip-on exhausts (the seller says these are not available in the USA).

Battery tender.

Included Maintenance Records:
January 2019 at Indian Motorcycle Orange County, 1,139 miles: brake fluid flush (front and rear), clutch fluid flush, oil change (Motul 20w50 100% synthetic), new starter case seal, tank inspection, new tachometer (warranty, mounting bolts were broken), new transmission filler breather cap (warranty, recall).
January 2016 at GP Motorcycles, 662 miles: 600 mile break-in service, new battery, new starter motor gasket, new oil sump gasket, map update, swingarm spool installation, aftermarket accessory installation.

The seller states that there are no mechanical or cosmetic issues. “It’s been perfectly broken in, never dropped or tracked.” The sale includes “all factory parts, manual, two keys, build sheet and records. The chain guard and mirrors are all wrapped up.” The build sheet shows that it shipped from Norton’s headquarters in Donington Hall on September 25th, 2014.

Currently located in San Clemente, California, this modern Commando is offered on a clean California title with registration current through November 2021. Have any Commando stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
