Aprilia’s response to the surge in popularity of adventure bikes was the Caponord – the first generation was produced between 2001-2007, then Aprilia brought it back in 2015 with a 1,197cc v-twin engine which was similar to the offering in the Dorsoduro 1200 at the time. It was tuned (both in terms of the power and electronics) more for mid-range success, Aprilia claimed 125 horsepower and 85 foot-pounds of torque.

Keeping everything in check were Brembo brakes and Sachs suspension paired with Aprilia Dynamic Dampening, their version of electronic suspension (fully active rear with semi-active front).

Aprilia offered different versions of the Capo around the world, but in the US we only got the “Travel Pack”: this came with luggage, cruise control heated grips, hand guards, and an adjustable windshield.

Manufactured in January 2014, this example is VIN: ZD4VKC016FS000127. The seller bought it from the original owner near Topeka, Kansas two years ago.

During his ownership, the seller has covered about 4,000 miles. The odometer shows 13,130 miles.

“It’s a very fun bike that has plenty of power, very comfortable, and handles extremely well on twisty roads for it’s size, but I just don’t ride it much anymore and would rather it go to someone who can enjoy it! Very similar to the Ducati Multistrada 1200 with even more features for the comparable years; cruise control, heated grips, adaptive dampening suspension. Somewhat of a rare bike in the United States and very underappreciated in my opinion!”

Maintenance:
“I have done an oil and filter change each year of my ownership (under 2,500 miles each time) with Motul 7100. I recently bled/flushed both the front and rear brake fluid, along with the hydraulic clutch before winter. I also installed Avon Trailrider tires shortly after acquiring the motorcycle 2 years ago. I have receipts for the parts but no labor as all maintenance was done myself. The previous owner did provide me with multiple service records from his ownership too.”
Modifications:
Hepco & Becker engine/crash cage, Sickspeed horn.

Hepco & Becker rear center large luggage case.

GPR exhaust with silencer (currently removed).

Large aftermarket windscreen (stock windscreen currently on the bike has been cut shorter), LED headlights.

Radiator and oil cooler guards.

It is riding on Avon Trailrider AV53/AV54 tires with date codes of 3422 and 4722.

The sale includes 1 ignition key.

“All original parts included with the sale. Exhaust and servo, panniers, rear-most fender/tire hugger, owners manual, extra windscreen.”

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“It has been dropped once at low speed in a loose gravel parking lot. Some scratches on the engine cage, exhaust and right side pannier. I would consider it pretty minimal overall and paint on the engine cage and pannier has been touched up, pretty hard to see on the engine cage unless you’re really looking for it, pannier is a bit more obvious just due to the bright red paint.

One very small tear at the very front of the seat cover, maybe 2-3mm. This happened with the previous owner and he applied glue to prevent it from getting any worse, and it hasn’t since I’ve owned it.

Couple very small rock chips here and there.”

Mechanical Issues:
No mechanical issues at all, it runs and rides great! There is a red warning light on the dash because the exhaust servo has been removed. No other codes and does not affect how it runs/rides. It didn’t bother me enough to justify spending the $70+tax on a healtech servo eliminator. Original exhaust and servo are included with the sale.
Currently located in Derby, Kansas, this Aprilia is offered on a clean Kansas title.
