After the legendary 1994 RC45, Honda took a lengthy break from producing a limited-production special for the US market. In fact, it took two decades before Honda would try something similar – the Honda CBR1000RR SP.

Honda built 5,000 units to sell worldwide, only a few hundred of which came to America. For an additional $2,700, riders were rewarded with a tremendous amount of upgrades including 43mm Öhlins NIX30 forks (fully adjustable), Öhlins TTX shock (fully adjustable), and Brembo front brakes with four-piston monobloc calipers.

The CBR engine was already improved from previous years with a revised cylinder head, but the SP version was factory blueprinted with “handpicked pistons and connecting rods”. The cylinder heads had improved intake and exhaust flow adding 2.7 ponies for a total of 168hp and 84 lb-ft of torque at 10,500 RPM.

One area the bike did stand out in was its appearance. With bodywork inspired by the RC211V, line-beam headlight, and under-tail exhaust, Miguel Duhamel summed up this bike by saying, “It’s not a bike that Honda just stamped SP on and have given a different paint job. There are definitely significant differences between the two. I love that little extra wink and smile that you get with the SP.”

Honda even took things one step further and released the iconic Repsol Edition model — the most coveted of the 1KRR’s. Inspired by Marc Marquez’s 2013 and 2014 MotoGP championships the orange livery also came with Marc Marquez “93” and Dani Pedrosa “26” factory decals. This unique color option was only available for two years, 2015 and 2016.
Manufactured February 2015, this example is VIN: JH2SC59M5FK700037. The seller purchased the bike six months ago from a the original owner in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and states, “Bike originally sold and bench prepped. Shipped to owners corporate HQ as a display piece. Then shipped to his home where I purchased it and had it shipped to my shop. All the French language safety and info decals are in the package verifying the Canadian import status.”

Maintenance:
Per the owner, “In August 2024 the bike was shipped from my place to Carter Motorcports, the original selling dealer. The bike was completely re-preped/spec and bench tested by the same tech that performed the work the first time. Full paperwork $1,600.00 CAN including a new OEM battery.”
Modifications:
According to the owner, the bike is stock.
It is riding on original Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires with date codes of 2614 and 3814.

The sale includes one key, owner’s manual, service records, and Marc Marquez “93” and Dani Pedrosa “26” factory stickers from Honda.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
According to the seller, there are no blemishes.
