Upon its release back in 2015, the RC390 was an instant hit, far-surpassing the performance envelope that small- and middleweight displacement bikes were offering at the time. Based on the 390 Duke, it combined KTM’s proven liquid-cooled, DOHC, fuel-injected counter-balanced four-stroke single with a steel-trellis frame and a WP Suspension setup fore and aft.
Though it came in slightly heavier than the Duke (322lbs vs. 306lbs), the RC390 was just as — if not more — responsive through the turns. Nimble and flickable in the twisties or on the track, it steepened the rake to 23.5 degrees, shortened the trail to 3.5 inches, and cut the wheelbase to 52.8 inches. In other words, this was one bike that prized handling above all else.
Per this first-ride review from Cycle World, “A more sporting riding position sets the bike apart from its class peers, the clip-on bars residing about level with the top triple clamp. Ample legroom between seat and footrests comfortably accommodates riders several inches taller than my own 5-foot-10 stature. The mirrors are excellent, control operation is polished and the brakes are effective with decent fade-free performance.”
This example is VIN: VBKJYJ405FC220169. It came to Iconic as an import from Japan.
The odometer shows 8,506 kilometers (5,285 miles).
