In 2015, Yamaha decided to challenge the small bike establishment with their release of the R3, and the end result was impressive. Sport Rider opened up their review by simply saying it was “worth the wait.”

Thanks to a 321cc motor, it was faster than the competition from Honda and Kawasaki, and it quickly became Yamaha’s best selling motorcycle in the US. It also became a popular platform for ~300 cc racing.

Basic specs for the R3 were 41 horsepower, 22 lb-ft of torque, and a curb weight of just 373 pounds. Stopping power for the little twin came from a 298mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear, paired with two-pot and single-pot calipers, respectively. In order to provide confident handling through turns, Yamaha fitted the R3 with a set of 41mm KYB forks along with an adjustable KYB shock.

This example is VIN: MH3RH06Y0FK008949. Iconic originally acquired the bike to be part of our East Coast rental fleet; however, we have received numerous requests to put it up for auction!

The odometer shows 6,402 miles.
