Initially introduced in 2014, the BMW R nineT was such a surprise hit that it eventually led to an entire family of bikes – but the original is the best in terms of components.
A dual exhaust, inverted forks, spoke wheels, aluminum fuel tank, and dual gauges (including tachometer) differentiate the model from future variants, all of which were given cheaper price tags and lower specifications to match. It’s a rare case of the original standard being the flagship model. The R nineT (in any form) is a good choice for someone who wants to do some customization. The motor is a classic air/oil-cooled engine that puts out useful power with 110 horses and a significant 86 ft/lbs of torque.
Manufactured in November of 2015, this example is VIN: WB10A1606GZ615553. The seller is the original owner – he purchased it new from BMW Motorcycles of San Francisco. He is letting it go as he splits his time between Los Angeles and Europe and does not have enough time to enjoy it.
The odometer shows 4,094 miles.
The seller had BMW Motorcycles of San Francisco built it to his taste. “I wanted a bike similar to their HPT build, but with better parts and handling. Mario Lopez, BMW SF head mechanic, performed all the work and fabrication and he is the one that built the HPT. I also have all the original service and build records from BMW SF.”
Modifications:
Ohlins full suspension (forks, steering damper, shock), carbon fiber front fender, alternator cover, and side trim panels.
Silmotor custom full exhaust system.
Custom machined triple tree, Motogadget instrumentation cluster, Gilles tooling bar ends, aftermarket bar end mirrors.
Roland Sands Radial valve covers with BMW logos.
Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires.
Custom air filter system utilizing a K&N air filter with RSD filter housing, Mishimoto intake tubing.
Polished aluminum tank and tail.
Daedalus tail tidy and swingarm license plate mount.
Not pictured is a Shorai lithium battery.
The seller states that there are no cosmetic blemishes or mechanical issues.
The “winning bidder will also get an extra Unit Garage slip-on exhaust, the original front fender, Rizoma front fender, and an Aella Japan custom R nineT handlebar. All are brand new unused, except for the Unit Garage slip-on that I had on the bike for about a week. They were parts I purchased, but then decided to go in a different direction..”
Currently located in Playa Vista, California, this BMW is offered on a clean California title with registration current through August 2022.
