Description
Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2016 Ducati Hypermotard 939 SP.
If you’re not familiar with this monster motard, here’s the short version: in the spring of 2005, Ducati designer Pierre Terblanche pitched management on an extreme street fighter — street performance in a new aesthetic package. The concept bike debuted that fall in Milan. Based on the hugely positive reaction the bike received from motorcyclists around the world, company president Federico Minoli green-lighted the project immediately. It has been one of Ducati’s most popular bikes since due to its torque and agility.
Upgraded in 2016, the powerplant became a new 937cc 11° Testastretta L-twin engine. The Italian firm claimed an additional three horsepower and a ten percent torque increase over its predecessor and kept with three versions – the base Hypermotard, the HyperStrada (a touring variant that was positioned as a smaller Multistrada), and the Hypermotrad SP – the track-oriented high performance halo bike.
For just under and extra $3,000, the SP bought you a fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, magnesium engine covers, forged Marchesini wheels, upgraded Brembo braking gear, and carbon fiber paneling.
This example is VIN: ZDM1YBJS5GB012222. The seller purchased the bike October 2022 from a private party out of Elk Grove, California, and states, “This is a bike that I have always wanted to own. It’s amazingly unique and if you’ve never been on a Hypermotard, it can be somewhat off putting at first. The position is so much like a dirt bike, it really puts the rider on alert that something very different is about to happen once you start the engine. I did own the previous version of this bike when I was a bit younger and the engine was a bit smaller. I had many great track days with the previous bike at Thunderhill and Sonoma Raceways. However, by the time the newer, better, faster and stronger Hyper made its way into my world, I was a little older, fatter and a lot slower. Therefore, it didn’t get ridden. I eagerly did the exhaust right away and then just spent most of the time visiting the bike in the garage. This is my second effort at condensing down my collection of bikes. It’s taken months to choose which bikes to sell and which bikes to keep. At the end of the day, I’m doing more cruiser / Harley riding these days than anything else. The Hyper really wants to be ridden harder than I’m riding lately.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 600 miles. The odometer shows 5,969 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “I have done 2 services since owning the bike. The first service was a major one where all fluids where changed, timing belts changed as well as new Pirelli Super Corsa SP2s installed. Paperwork for all services included. They also had to repair a minor wiring flaw that prevented the rear license plate light from working. All sorted.” In preparation for the listing, the seller had us perform a safety inspection, flush, fill, and bleed the brake fluid, and give the bike a detail.
