Introduced in 2012, the 1199 Panigale was a tremendous step up from the 1198. In their First Ride, Cycle World said “Its V-Twin makes power like no two-cylinder engine before it, and the way the chassis behaves, the way the bike feels, blows the performance window wide open and obliterates the memory of past Ducati superbikes.”
The new Superquadro motor put out a claimed 195 horsepower, making it the world’s most powerful production twin at the time, and with a curb weight of 414 pounds, Ducati claimed it had the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production bike when released. That ratio got even better with the R model, which was released to make the bike eligible for World Superbike racing. It featured titanium valves and connecting rods, two-ring pistons, and a tungsten-balanced crank, as well as Öhlins suspension, forged Marchesini wheels, lengthened wheelbase, and a titanium/carbon fiber Akrapovič exhaust with a race ECU.
A year later, Ducati released the even stronger 1199 R. This World Superbike homologation model weighed less, thanks to titanium connecting rods, lighter flywheel, and lots more carbon fiber. It was also more powerful, thanks to the track only Termignoni exhaust system capable of 202bhp. All these changes bumped the top speed from 186 to 202 mph.

When I asked him how much he had into it, he said he ‘just stopped counting when he hit $150K’ but he’s quite sure he’s into it for over $200k. He’s put a ‘very attainable’ reserve already as he’s ready to move on and let someone else enjoy it. ‘So much time, effort, and passion went into this bike, you’re sure to love riding it as much as I did as it’s a machine like no other!’
I asked him why on earth would he invest this kind of money into his racebike? He said, ‘I knew I was a larger guy and couldn’t be as small or light as other racers so I opted to go crazy on the bike build and make it as light as possible.’ The bike has truly top of the top shelf items that are rarely (if ever) available to the public and quite pricey.”
This example is VIN: ZDM14BVW3GB003432. The seller states he “the bike is perfect for somebody that wants to show up at a track day and just crush everyone without having to do any adjustments or tuning.”
The odometer shows 1,698 miles. The seller states “the bike has numerous regional championships and several podiums at Daytona.”
Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us perform a safety inspection. The seller states “the engine was recently rebuilt and only has a handful of dyno runs since the rebuild.” Our service department notes the following on their condition report:

The following dyno sheet from 2020 has been provided showing the rear wheel. It is 230 at the crank.
Modifications:
The seller states “The front forks and rear shock are the world super bike spec, which were only available to sponsored riders. I was sponsored by Mupo and other world super bike teams. It’s all been completely sorted out and the suspension dialed in by the professionals at Mupo Racing. The suspension is set exactly for someone around 190 to 215 pounds. This is very likely the lightest Panigale on the track. It was so light in fact, when I last raced it, he had to add fuel to meet the minimum required weight for the class. It handles like no other. The accuracy of the line that you can keep on the track is within a few inches.”
Per the seller “most of the hardware is Ti with approximately $5k invested helping the bike weigh under 345 lbs when wet.”

Akrapovič full race exhaust system. The seller states “the rear exhaust is the world superbike spec, not to be confused with the available system that looks just like that. It’s entirely different from the manifold all the way back to almost the tips and costs $12,000.”

Inside of the tank:
It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Superbike tires with date codes of 3818 and 0819.
The sale includes one key, stock swing arm, extra bodywork, engine cases, extra sprockets, spare springs, hoses, and various additional parts including a DDS map key. (See photos below and in the album.) We are also including the rear stand with the sale of the bike.
Please note: The red fuel tank in the background is not included in the sale.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. The seller states “the tank was sent to a bodywork supplier in Italy to color match the Italian race bodywork. The damage that’s on the fairing was caused when I pushed it back into the shop and tried to bump it over the curb at too much of an angle, and it fell on the left side.”
