Harley-Davidson first introduced the Forty-Eight XL1200X in 2010 as a counterpart to its ever-enduring Sportster. At the time, the Motor Company described it as having “Heavy-hitting fat tire style with an iconic peanut tank and bulldog stance.”

In 2016, Harley updated the XL1200X with larger 49mm forks up front and a fully-adjustable shock at the rear. What’s more, the rake was tucked by 1.3 degrees and the lean angle was made to be a consistent 27.1 degrees right to left. So, even despite the bike’s low-slung 28-inch seat height, such changes gave it a much sportier riding feel.

For its power plant, the XL1200X incorporated Harley’s tried and true Evolution motor, an air-cooled 1,202cc V-twin good for a thumping 71lb-ft of torque and a characteristically roaring exhaust note.

As VisorDown found in its review: “Like the Street 750, the Forty-Eight will lean over enough to let you enjoy changing direction but ground easily enough to flatter your riding… making it one of the more corner-friendly machines in the range.”

This example is VIN: 1HD1LC316GC429457. The seller acquired the bike six years ago from Lakeshore Harley-Davidson in Libertyville, Illinois.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 1,299 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports that the “last fluid change was about a year ago. If the bike will be ridden, a fluid change is recommended.”
He adds that “the buyer should expect to perform some work to make the motorcycle street legal. In particular brake lights, mirrors and indicator lights are missing.”
Modifications:
Wire spoked wheels, custom matte black paint.

Not pictured is a Screamin’ Eagle Pro EFI Super Tuner.
It is riding on Shinko E-270 tires with date codes of 5116 and 0117.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
