When Honda officially announced the RC213V-S in June of 2015, every publication called it the same thing: a MotoGP bike for the street. As MCN put it, “The long-awaited Honda RC213V-S really is a MotoGP bike with lights and as close to the real thing as is practical and affordable. It’s tiny, like an NC30, and floats effortlessly around a track.”

The name continues Honda’s trend of the “RC” prefix for works bikes, and 213V-S breaks down to 21st century, 3rd Version – Street.

Honda announced that their plan was to hand-build one a day with a maximum run of 250 bikes. Unfortunately, the 2016 Fukushima earthquake and tsunami affected production and roughly 125 were built.

As you would assume on a bike this incredible, the components were just about as good as it got for the time – Honda claimed that the Brembo braking components (with the exception of 5.5mm steel rotors and pads) were the same as what they used on their MotoGP bike. That was paired with forged Marchesini magnesium wheels as well as an Ohlins TTX25 fork and TTX36 shock, and it all hung off a frame built by Moriwaki.

Euro-spec bikes produced 159 horsepower, while US bikes produced 101 and Japanese models produced 68. Back to MCN: “In standard trim it promises to be a sublime road bike and is reminiscent of an RC30, even if it’s slightly docile on a circuit. But with the optional Sports Kit fitted it’s something very special.” Lucky for you, this Euro-spec bike comes with the Sports Kit.
