By 2017, BMW had fleshed out the R nineT platform to include the original, the Scrambler, the Pure, the Urban GS, and the Racer. The latter was styled as a cafe racer with a solo seat and a lovely white/red/blue BMW Motorsports livery.
The 1,170cc boxer motor generates 110 horsepower and 86 lb-ft of torque. BMW considered it the sportiest of the R nineT lineup, and it showed in the riding position with aggressive clipons and rearsets.
As noted in this Rider magazine comparison, “with its bullet fairing, rear seat cowl, low clip-on handlebars and stretched-out profile, the Racer screams its intent: get on, shut up and go fast.” Lemmy at RevZilla summed it up simply: “I dug the Racer. A lot.” He adds, “the Racer goes where you lean with no fanfare. At 480 pounds…[it] feels friendlier and more playful than the demeanor and price tag would belie.”
Manufactured in January 2017, this example is VIN: WB10J2303HZ740957. The seller is the original owner, he purchased it new in 2017 through a BMW dealership in Worcester, Massachusetts. They did not have any in inventory so they sourced the bike from a BMW dealer in Essex, Vermont.
The odometer shows 3,218 miles.
“I don’t ride it anymore, I barely ride on the street anymore and when I do it’s on one of my more comfortable bikes. Daytona this year was the first time I had ridden it in several yrs. While I really enjoy looking at the bike, because it’s probably the coolest bike BMW has ever made, I just don’t think it should sit in my garage anymore.”
Maintenance:
“The bike has had 2 oil changes, one at 500 miles and the other at about 3k. I performed these changes myself using BMW oil and filters. I replaced the battery in February of this yr. I replaced the front tire in March of this yr due to a flat at Daytona bike week. Unfortunately, I did not keep receipts for the supplies used for the work.” The seller states there are no known mechanical issues.
Modifications:
Not pictured: factory optional Automatic Stability Control (ASC).
Factory optional heated grips.
The reflectors on the forks have been removed.

It is riding on Metzeler tires with date codes of 4725 and 4616.
The sale includes 2 ignition keys, the rider’s manual, tool kit, and the original pricing sheet.

“There is a small scratch on the left valve cover and a scuff on the left spark plug cover due to the tight spaces in my garage. There are tiny paint chips on the forks due to road debris. The bodywork is essentially perfect, no scratches at all. The bike has always been stored inside and there are no signs of any corrosion anywhere on the bike.”
“The bike did get tipped over in my driveway from a friend sitting on it. He paid to replace the scratched right mirror, brake lever, bar end and valve cover with brand new parts, there is zero evidence of this mishap. I include this information in the interest of full disclosure, however, I don’t believe that it should have any negative impact on the bike’s value.”
