With a name dedicated to the most iconic mountain pass in the world, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio had quite the shoes to fill when it was first introduced in 2008. The adventure-touring motorcycle was Moto Guzzi’s first effort in the class, demonstrating to the industry that the Italian company could uphold its commitment to both innovation and tradition.
The Stelvio came powered by a staple in the Moto Guzzi lineup – a 1,151cc air-cooled V-twin. The V-twin mill was good for 105 horsepower, while 83 lb-ft of torque kept all 566 pounds of motorcycle trudging along any terrain the rider might find themselves traversing. Between the air-cooled engine and the twin-spar steel frame, Moto Guzzi kept the nods to their roots subtle yet classy.
Over the years, the Stelvio saw quite a few changes, chief amongst those being the electronics. The 1200 received Ride-by-Wire, advanced ABS, and even ATC (advanced traction control) — features that were quickly becoming regular items throughout the rest of the market. In practice, this allowed for multiple riding modes such as Rain, Road, and Off-Road, giving riders full control over the bike’s performance across a variety of terrains and conditions.
With all of the many add-ons in the adventure-touring market, Moto Guzzi would have been remiss not to offer an up-spec model of the Stelvio. In 2015, the Italian marque started offering the bike with the Nord Touring Xperience (NTX) package. Standard items included plenty of off-road protection: a sump guard, a set of cylinder head crash bars, as well as hand-guards and an imposing adjustable windshield.
This example is VIN: ZGULZU01XHM200260.
The odometer shows 2,428 miles.
