With over a decade of research and development put into it’s first bike, Motus has a lot to offer with their flagship models – the MST and the MST-R. Starting in the minds of two friends that shared an equal passion in motorcycles, the MST features some striking innovations and unconventional components that only come about when a want becomes a need.

To start, the American-based company decided to look inward for the inspiration of their engine design. Based off the same configuration that made Chevy iconic, Motus took the LS-configuration – a 90-degree V4 engine – and sized it down accordingly. Known affectionaly as the “Baby Block”, the MV4 engine was good for upwards of 165 horsepower and around 123 ft-lbs of torque, while the MST-R came packing 15 more ponies under the hood, which brought the hyper sport-tourer up to 180 hp and 126 ft-lbs of torque. Beyond the size, the MV4 featured many parts that are quite common in everyday cars. The logic was sound, as the wear and tear found amongst these parts (forged pistons, stand-alone alternator, etc.) is negligible when used in a motorcycle.

While the MST came standard with many bits and bobs normally reserved for high-end models from more popular brands, the “R” version takes that sentiment one step further. What exudes exclusivity and performance better than carbon fiber? The MST-R came standard with full carbon fiber bodywork and BST carbon fiber wheels. The upspec model didn’t end with carbon fiber farkles, as the MST-R also boasted cruise control, a fully-adjustable front and rear Öhlins units as well as a Magura front brake master cylinder paired to Brembro Monoblocs.
