After decades of working magic with Japanese powerplants, Bimota switched to a wave of Italian engines through Ducati when they were reborn in 2003.
Starting with the DB10 (Bimota’s take on the Ducati Hypermotard), they went a little crazy and built the DBX, an adventure bike! The components were typical Bimota in that they were top tier: Ohlins TTX forks and fully adjustable shock, Brembo monobloc brakes, and ample helpings of billet aluminum and carbon fiber.
The Ducati engine produced 95 horsepower, but was truly impressive about the DBx was the 385 pound dry weight – by far the lightest number in the multi-cylinder adventure bike class. For context, it made 6 horsepower more than the BMW F800GS but weighed 87 pounds less. To show it was more than a show pony, Bimota actually took it to the notoriously-challenging Erzberg Rodeo and rider Stefano Sacchini placed 4th in the twin-cylinder class of the prologue.
