Introduced as the flagship of Ducati’s naked bike lineup, the Monster 1200 S represented the most refined expression yet of the model that helped define the modern streetfighter category. While unmistakably a Monster thanks to its muscular stance, exposed trellis frame, and commanding riding position, the 1200 S brought the platform firmly into the modern era with premium suspension, advanced electronics, and superbike rivaling performance.

In 2017 Ducati gave the 1200 and 1200 S an overhaul, making it more powerful and agile. Both got larger 56mm throttle bodies and new cylinder heads, improving the compression ratio from 12.5:1 to 13:1. Horsepower was bumped up to 150 @ 9,250 rpm and the torque was claimed at 93 lb-ft @ 7,750 rpm.

The base model got 43mm Kayaba forks and a Sachs monoshock while the S model elevated the package further with fully adjustable Öhlins suspension and Brembo M50 monobloc brakes, giving the Monster handling and stopping power to match its performance. Reviewers praised the bike’s balance of comfort, agility, and excitement, with MCN calling it the best Monster Ducati had ever produced. Bridging the gap between retro-inspired roadsters and modern supernakeds, the Monster 1200 S remains one of the most engaging and versatile performance motorcycles of its era.

Power comes from a 1,198cc Testastretta 11° L-twin producing a claimed 145 horsepower and a mountain of midrange torque. Tuned for real-world road riding rather than outright top-end power, the engine delivers strong acceleration from as little as 2,000 rpm while retaining the charismatic exhaust note and visceral character Ducati twins are known for. Riders could tailor the experience through selectable riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, and wheelie control, creating a machine that was equally comfortable carving canyon roads or tackling a track day.

This example is VIN: ZDMMACFW1KB025495. The seller acquired it 13 months ago from a private party in Burbank, California.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 1,400 miles. The odometer shows 8,798 miles.

“This bike is a beast to ride. It’s incredibly powerful and draws looks from other riders. It’s honestly too much power for me. I have two other bikes, a BMW rnineT and a Triumph Speed Twin 900, and the Ducati is in another league performance-wise. It’s in great shape and I’m excited for someone who can appreciate the performance to be its next steward.”
Maintenance:
“Oil has been changed twice since I’ve owned it (most recently in April of 2026) and the brake fluid was changed in June 2025. I replaced the fuel tank sensor in May 2026.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues.
Modifications:
Austin Racing exhaust. The seller states “The previous owner bought this exhaust used on ebay and it had scuffs on it. I’ve considered just putting the OEM can back on”.

It is riding on Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires with date codes of 1224 and 3424.

The sale includes 2 ignition keys, side stand (pictured), the original exhaust, and the rear original foot pegs.
