When launched in 2004, the Rocket III was crowned the worlds biggest production motorcycle with its 2294cc three-cylinder engine. The bike disappeared from European showrooms rather quickly in the wake of the Euro 4 emission regulations but continued to sell in America for those wanting to cruise on the chrome beast.

With time, Triumph gave the icon upgrades all around. First was a larger, Euro 5 compliant engine, now 2,458cc and capable of 11% more power than its predecessor: 165bhp @ 6000rpm and a whopping 163lbs-ft of torque @ 4000rpm. That’s over 38% percent more torque than the Ducati XDiavel S at its peak.

Despite the beefier mill, large Showa 47mm fully-adjustable inverted forks, and the 240mm rear tire, Triumph was able to shave 88lbs off of the dry weight. Thanks to the new aluminum frame, revised swingarm, and updated crankcase assembly, the bike tipped the scales at less than 650lbs.

With the introduction of its Triumph Factory Custom (TFC) initiative, the Hinckley-based brand gave riders access to some truly top-of-the-line motorcycling. Beyond unique aesthetic and performance improvements, each model was limited to just 750 examples worldwide; they also shipped with a personalized custom build book, a bike cover, along with a TFC-branded leather backpack.

In the case of the Rocket III, Triumph outfitted the bike with an exclusive ‘Carbon Black’ and ‘Matte Carbon Black’ paint scheme, heaps of carbon fiber bodywork, even more power (up to 179hp and 165lb-ft of torque), a set of Brembo Stylema brakes, as well as a distinctive hydro-formed header, some Arrow silencers, a TFT instrument panel, and plenty of electronic connectivity options. If you’d like to learn more, check out Triumph’s TFC collection here.
