Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2021 BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40th Anniversary. Please note: VINData erroneously lists this example as a 1993 model. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.
Initially introduced in 2014, the BMW R nineT was such a surprise hit that it eventually led to an entire family of bikes – but the original is the best in terms of components.
A dual exhaust, inverted forks, spoke wheels, aluminum fuel tank, and dual gauges (including tachometer) differentiate the model from future variants, all of which were given cheaper price tags and lower specifications to match. It’s a rare case of the original standard being the flagship model. The R nineT (in any form) is a good choice for someone who wants to do some customization. The motor is a classic air/oil-cooled engine that puts out useful power with 110 horses and a significant 86 ft/lbs of torque.
The Urban GS joined the lineup in 2017 and come 2021 Motorrad gave all nineTs a refresh consisting of LED lights, new rear shock, three riding modes, cornering ABS, adjustable engine braking, and a USB port. This 40th anniversary is unique to 2021 and adds hand guards, gold wheels, higher mounted exhaust, and Option 719 paint, seat brackets, and cylinder heads.
