After spending nearly two decades honing its sportbike formula with the R1100RS and the HP2, BMW finally materialized its progress in the form of the S1000RR. It was a release that turned the race replica segment on its head, proving once and for all that the Germans could beat the Japanese at their own game.

When it launched in 2009, the “RR” introduced a number of firsts to the production motorcycle market. In addition to an optional quick shifter, it also featured ABS, dynamic traction control, and a customizable four-mode riding system. What’s more, it boasted the largest bore and stroke of any liter bike at the time — a potent 80mm x 49.7mm. On the road, this meant that the 999cc transverse four-banger made some 193hp and 82.6lb-ft of torque, enabling a top speed of 186mph and a 0-60mph sprint of 3.1 seconds.

Since that time, BMW has only continued to improve on its original effort, refining the concept with slippery aero, a strengthened frame, some reworked suspension, and a set of stronger brakes. With the ultra-exclusive HP4 version of the S1000RR, BMW even added a ride-by-wire steering system — an innovation that had previously only appeared on track bikes.

New for 2019, BMW introduced the ‘M’ package – an upspec model of the S1000RR that came with a roughly $4,500 price increase. With that price hike came an exclusive M livery, your choice of carbon or forged ‘M’-branded wheels, and ‘M’ embossed accessories throughout – like a sport seat and custom lettering on the wheels. Befitting BMW, the upgrades didn’t stop there; the newest generation also included the option for the ‘Premium Package’, which tacked on an additional $2,400 to the total sum. For that $2,400, buyers received a titanium exhaust, heated grips, an endurance chain, cruise control, Dynamic Damping Control, and separate riding modes.

This example is VIN: WB10E2300M6E57340. The seller purchased the bike new from BMW.

The odometer shows 8,277 miles. The seller is the original owner of this motorcycle. They’re selling this example because they are moving out of state.

The seller reports that he recently had BMW complete the 6,000-mile service and install new Michelin Power 2CT+ tires with date codes of 4621 and 0622. Please note: The service indicator light is currently on.

The original M Carbon front wheel developed a crack. BMW did not offer a replacement, so the seller installed a cast alloy unit instead.

Additionally, he has provided the following records (we have altered the images to omit his personal information):
