Back in 2018, Ducati finally broke from its long line of twins with the Panigale V4. Centered around a 1,103cc V4, even the base model was good for some 211hp and 91lb-ft of torque.
In 2020, the Bologna-based firm brought the Superleggera name (Italian for “super light”) to the V4 family. As befitting of its designation, the bike shaved 100lbs off of the Panigale V4 — no small feat considering that it was already a featherweight at 436lbs dry. To accomplish such a task, Ducati crafted the frame, the subframe, the swingarm, as well as the wheels from carbon fiber, a move that in itself saved nearly 15lbs. Of course, the Superleggera incorporated plenty of other top-shelf materials, including titanium, magnesium, and aluminum.
For the power plant, Ducati opted for the same 998ccc Desmosedici Stradale R as found in the V4 R. Despite offering less displacement than the V4 and V4S, the smaller, lighter engine made 224hp in its factory configuration. When set up with the race kit and exhaust, output was boosted to 234hp. In practice, this means that it boasted 0.7 horsepower-per-pound — a 40% higher power-to-weight ratio than its V4 counterparts.
Elsewhere, the Superleggera came fitted with only the most premium components available, including machined forks, a titanium-springed Öhlins TTX shock, and Brembo Stylema R calipers. Expectedly, all of this came at quite a hefty sum ($100,000) and was as exclusive as they come — just 500 examples were produced in total. This example is #425 of 500.
This example is VIN: ZDMDAGUW2MB000425. The seller states “I purchased it used from AMS Ducati Dallas in 2022. I am the second owner. The first owner only rode it on weekends for the occassional short ride.”
The odometer shows 2,329 miles. The seller has covered approximately 300 miles during his three years of ownership. He states “It spent most of my ownership sitting in a climate controlled office not being ridden. I have gotten into CMRA racing and don’t have the desire to be a bike collector. It deserves to be in a good home where it gets ridden the way it was meant to or for a collector to add to their collection.”
Maintenance:
The seller states “I have done one oil change right after I bought it. It was done by Eleven Motorsports. They also have put on a brand new set of Pirelli Supercorsa V4 tires on it about 2 months ago and the bike has not been ridden since they were installed.”
Modifications:
Ducati Corse rearsets.
It is riding on Pirelli Supercorsa V4 tires with date codes of 3024 and 3424.
The sale includes two keys, the seller states “I have the OEM rearsets and will be included with the bike. I have all of the extras that the bike came with. The numbered model, stock EURO compliant exhaust, front and rear stands, the cover. The side panels for the stock exhaust, the numbered card, both keys. Everything that came with it from Ducati will be included.”
