After making headlines with its ambitious “More Roads” initiative, Harley-Davidson eventually scrapped the program in favor of something a bit closer to home: “The Hardwire” plan. Essentially an effort to re-focus brand attention on established market segments, the strategy kicked off with the launch of the Icons Collection and the debut of the Electra Glide Revival.
Being part of the Icons Collection, the Electra Glide Revival was introduced as a limited release in extremely low production numbers: just 1,500 worldwide. A true head-turner, the model combined classic styling (inspired by the original Electra Glide) with modern performance – a winning formula amongst the current crop of retro-crazed riders.
From tip to tail, Harley outfitted the Revival with chrome, two-tone paint, and other old-school accoutrements. In fact, The Motor Company even gave it suspended single seat and a “batwing” front fairing as a nod to the 1969 Electra Glide – the first of its bikes to be offered with such an option.
To keep things rubber-side down, the Revival came with much of the same componentry found in Harley’s other large touring models. So, in addition to electronic RDRS Safety Enhancements (ABS, linked braking, cruise control, and traction control), it also featured triple 300mm discs, Showa forks, and Showa rear shocks with remote preload adjustment. Power came from the brand’s Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin, a thumping 1,868cc block good for 118 lb-ft of torque at 3,250rpm.
