After a seven-year hiatus in the North American market, the 450 SMR was brought back to the US and Canada for 2021 as an all-new model that was based on the excellent 450 SX-F motocross bike. As a bike that you could take straight from the dealer floor to the racetrack, the stock components on the SMR are impressive.
These include a top-shelf Brembo M50 caliper, Galfer brake rotor, Suter slipper clutch, WP Xact fork, Alpina tubeless spoked wheels, and a CNC-machined triple clamp.
Other aspects of the supermoto are quite similar to the 450 SX-F such as the chromium-molybdenum steel frame, aluminum subframe and swingarm, and most of the bodywork. The 449cc single-overhead-cam powerplant is largely the same which put out 54.8 hp at 9,500 rpm and 34.6 pound-feet of torque at 7,400 rpm.
Two mapping options came from KTM and the whole packaged had a top speed of 90 miles per hour and tipped the scales at 232 pounds.
