After a decade of producing its flagship V-Twin platform, Aprilia introduced its all-new RSV4 superbike in 2009. Built to compete in the 2009 World Superbike Championship series, the model was Aprilia’s first-ever four-cylinder offering.
At the time, the RSV4’s chassis represented the latest in Aprilia’s line of Grand Prix-bred aluminum twin-spar frames. The trick twin-beam unit was constructed from a hybrid of cast and pressed sheet sections, offering the optimal balance of strength and rigidity. Equally race-inspired and derived from the same manufacturing techniques was the RSV4’s double-arch aluminum swingarm.
In 2019, Aprilia updated the RSV4 with the same 1,078cc 65-degree V-4 found in its Tuono 1100. Thanks to an increased bore (up from 78mm to 81mm), a 13.6:1 compression ratio, and an additional oil pump, the block generated a respectable 217hp at 13,200rpm and some 90lb-ft of torque at 11,000rpm. To keep its impressive powerplant in check, the RSV4 also benefitted from a suite of top shelf components and rider aids. Suspension duties were handled via a set of NIX 43mm inverted forks and a TTX piggyback shock, while braking was taken care of thanks to some four-pot Brembo Stylema calipers. And here’s the thing: because of Aprilia’s APRC electronics package, riders got cornering ABS, three engine map modes, as well as eight different levels of traction control, wheelie control, launch control, and even cruise control.
Sweetening the deal even further was the RSV4’s gorgeous Italian bodywork. The sharp symmetrical front fairing and angular tail section have been so unanimously adored, that — much like the iconic Tamburini-designed MV F4 — even after more than a decade since the bike’s initial release, Aprilia has done very little to update its looks (aside from the addition of winglets).
Manufactured in February of 2022, this example is VIN: ZD4KYUB06NS000414. The seller purchased the bike new.
The odometer shows 6,218 miles.
