When development of the Diavel began, it was set to be a “Mega-Monster, a blend of sport-naked and sportbike” per Ducati Product Manager Stefano Tarabusi. As the bike developed, a cruiser form appeared and what resulted was a uniquely styled, category-defying machine housing a 1198cc L-twin Testastretta engine with serious juice.

The 2016 release of the XDiavel steered the bike more towards the cruiser department with its new 1262cc motor, forward controls, and slightly lowered seat. The engine was tuned to deliver peak torque lower in the powerband at 5,000 rpm, and the entire package was light by cruiser standards with a curb weight of just 545 pounds.

These changes were well received yet only three years later Ducati gave the Diavel a complete redesign for 2019. Although the same 1262cc DVT (Desmodromic value timing) V-twin returns, the frame, subframe, suspension, wheels, swingarm, fuel tank, silencers, engine covers, tail section, and bodywork were all new. Combined with the foot pegs moving back, the rake tightened, and the wheelbase lengthened, gave the 157hp ‘Devil’ a more streamlined yet brawny look.

This Nera edition was made in partnership with high end furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau’s Interiors in Motion business unit and features gloss and matte black-on-black livery and a customizable leather saddle.
