Description

Additional photos of this Yamaha R7 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition are available here for your perusal.

For 2022, Yamaha brought back the R7 name for a new sportbike – this time a more user-friendly addition to their R-World lineup. The R7 borrowed heavily from the MT-07 in terms of the frame and suspension, though it had plenty of upgrades and changes to make it better suited for the track. MCN called it “half the price of an R1, twice as fun on the road.” Abhi attended the US launch and had a great time with it as well:

Underneath, you’ll find Yamaha’s 689cc inline two-cylinder CP2 engine. Mated to a platform-first Assist and Slipper clutch, it’s made only better by an inverted 41mm front fork and an all-new Monocross single shock. To further build on the bike’s handling, Yamaha also revised the body and chassis design, resulting in a slimmer profile with improved aerodynamics.

Also in 2022, Yamaha released a trio of commemorative motorcycles to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its very first World GP race — the 1961 Grand Prix of France. Along with a limited edition R1 and a limited edition R3, the lineup also included a limited edition R7 like the one you see before you.

Inspired by Yamaha’s factory YZR-M1 race bike, the R7 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition features the same iconic white and red speedblock livery. It also featured exclusive details including gold wheels and forks, black levers, and some distinctive commemorative badging including factory race-bike gold Tuning Fork emblems on the tank and a set of “World GP 60th Anniversary” decals on the tail.
