In recent years, Aprilia has sought to make some of the most exclusive, sought-after, and high-performance motorcycles available to the market. Back in 2019 Aprilia released the first of their newest ‘X’ line, a limited run of both the RSV4 superbike, and its naked counterpart – the Tuono. To start, the motorcycles came in extremely low quantities, and offered features not seen on most production motorcycles – such as a hand-built engine putting out a breathtaking 222 horsepower. Aprilia wasn’t satisfied, and what came next was sure to shake up the motorcycle industry.
To commemorate Aprilia’s 30th anniversary of their first World Championship title, the R&D team at Aprilia (Noale Racing Department) designed their newest iteration of the RSV4 with unprecedented technologies and designs – the RSV4 Xtrenta. The Xtrenta (limited to 100 models total) comes packed with many of the same features seen in the MotoGP RS-GP bikes – fittingly so, as Noale Racing are the same folks that work on their class-leading superbikes for the GP – such as the electronics package, materials, and aerodynamics.
The Xtrenta boasts a wealth of racing experience and development under the hood – or should we say winglets? Those same winglets are said to increase the front grip load by as much as 25%, while reducing drag significantly. Beyond the winglets, in recent years MotoGP has seen many controversial styling choices, most notably a swingarm ‘wing’ or scoop. The fight for more downforce and decreased drag has led to some debate on the legality of it all, but that hasn’t stopped Aprilia from keeping up with the times. The Xtrenta is graced with the same swingarm winglet, and Aprilia now looks to claim the title of having the first bike in the world with an ‘under wing’ on their production motorcycle.
Beyond the aerodynamics, Aprilia now claimed the Xtrenta was good for a maximum 230 horsepower, which was in large part due to their work in hand with their partners over at SC Project on the exhaust system for the motorcycle. Aprilia wasn’t done there, as the RSV4 received everything from a Xtrenta exclusive sprocket, to a full electronics suite capable of refining any and all choices for the rider. With Öhlins suspension designed and perfected by Aprilia’s very own MotoGP engineers rounding out this package, it was no wonder Aprilia decided on making this model to celebrate their 30th anniversary in racing.
The RSV4 Xtrenta was graced with all the love and attention that Aprilia could bestow, offering riders a complete, ready-to-race package that was aimed at those looking to perform at the highest levels adjacent to MotoGP, or a lucky fellow hoping to add one of these 100 models to their collection.
