Usually, when Pierer Mobility offers a GasGas equivalent of one of their KTM models they saddle it with cheaper parts to make it more accessible for consumers. But when it came to the SM 700 (the “red” sibling to a KTM 690 SMC R), the only differences were the plastics and the use of cast wheels instead of spoked ones.
So this bike got the same excellent fully-adjustable WP Apex suspension, Brembo brakes, and of course, KTM’s popular 690 single. Claimed output was 74 hp and 54.2 pound-feet, more then enough to have fun thanks to a dry weight of just 324 pounds.
The SM 7000 is GasGas’ first production streetbike, and Motorcyclist magazine called it “a well-judged balance of aggression and rideability for both track and road, supported by easy-to-use rider aids” thanks to ride modes, switchable lean-sensitive traction control, and switchable ABS.
This example is VIN: VBKGEV405PM747800. The seller is the original owner, he bought it new from Magnum Motorsports in Van Nuys, California in December 2023.
The odometer shows 5,723 miles.
