2011 marked the end of two-stroke world championships – the next year, Moto3 moved to four-strokes, and Honda’s first factory effort was the NSF250R. Rules capped bore size at 81mm, revs at 14,000 rpm, and valves at four.
Honda called their NSF250R “a new racing machine for a new era: light, compact, high output, high performance.”
Claimed power? 48 ponies, which were plenty for the feather light dry weight of 180 pounds. Honda offered this racer in the US in 2012 with a MSRP of $28,599.
This example is VIN: JH2MR037CK001160. It came to Iconic Motorbikes directly from HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) in Japan. Steve picked the bike up last year before heading to the Barber Vintage Festival so that he could enjoy some time on the track!
There is no odometer; true mileage is unknown. Steve states that he has covered “less than 20 laps and under 100 kilometers in two track days.”
