As NASCAR is to Indy Car and Formula 1, so too is the King Of The Baggers series to WSBK and MotoGP. For even though the class of race-bred touring bikes started off as an offbeat concept, it’s quickly emerged as one of the most popular, fastest-growing spectacles on two wheels. Come race weekend, you’ll see Harley-Davidson FLs and Indian Challengers going head to head, thumping V-twins bellowing down straights and bucking through turns.

In celebration of its 2022 King Of The Baggers title, Indian Motorcycles offered the public a limited run of Challenger RR race bikes. Built to MotoAmerica specifications — by the same team of S&S wrenches who worked Tyler O’Hara’s championship-winning bike — it features a laundry list of one-off parts and competition-proven tech.

In keeping with the King Of The Baggers series rules, the Challenger RR features the same PowerPlus V-Twin as the stock Challenger. However, thanks to a 112 CID big-bore kit, some CNC-ported cylinder heads, S&S camshafts, and some adjustable S&S billet rocker arms, it’s far from an off-the-shelf engine. To take advantage of the increased power, Indian specced the Challenger RR with a fully adjustable Maxx ECM, an S&S air intake and a 78mm throttle body, as well as a S&S 2-1 race exhaust.

Of course, when racing bikes of this size, chassis engineering is of the utmost importance. In order to keep the Challenger RR in check, Indian gave it a set of it S&S billet adjustable triple clamps and Öhlins FGR 250 forks up front, an Öhlins TTX shock at the rear, and an S&S race-modded swingarm. You’ll also find 17-inch race rims, Brembo M4 calipers paired with 330mm rotors, an S&S chain drive conversion, a quickshifter kit, a taller Saddlemen seat, and carbon fiber bodywork.

Expectedly, such a purpose-built package was priced accordingly: MSRP came to a staggering $92,229. However, with just 29 bikes built in total, they’re equal parts exclusive, too.

This example is VIN: A7P108RRPPS000013. The seller is an Indian Motorcycle dealer. He states that “a customer pre-ordered this rare bike and was lucky enough to get it. Unfortunately, the customer could not afford the bike upon arrival. As such, it has been stored in our showroom on display for about a year.”

Because this is a factory race bike, there is no odometer. The seller states that “the bike has only ever been started and moved to our showroom.”
