After rewriting the superbike rule book with its award-winning S1000RR, BMW decided to celebrate in the best way possible: by releasing a naked version for the street. Dubbed the “S1000R,” the model took everything that riders loved about the Bavarian liter bike, ditched the fairings, and added a set of straight bars to make it more comfortable for the road.

For 2023, BMW upped the ante with a “M” variant that they called a “dash of insanity“. Despite the upright nature, this bike uses the same engine as the superbike S1000RR, meaning you get 205 horsepower to move 443 pounds of bike.

For riders who wanted even more, BMW offered a $5,000 “M Competition Package” which includes carbon fiber wheels (200 vs 190 section in the rear), thicker front brake discs, ample carbon fiber (fenders, airbox cover, chain guard, tank covers), GPS lap timer, and several billet parts like the rearsets, levers, pedals, and passenger pegs.
