When Ducati debuted the original Multistrada in 2003, the bike made for a dramatic departure from the firm’s usual offerings. Named after the Italian word for “many roads,” the model combined a unique aesthetic penned by Pierre Terblanche with comfortable touring geometry and luggage hauling provisions. While the spirit of the bike is still very much the same some 20 years later, it’s evolved to become an even more capable all-rounder. That is to say: with the fourth generation of the Multistrada, Ducati made a number of changes; the bike introduced an all-new V4 engine, a revised chassis, more ground clearance, as well as a larger front wheel. Not only that, but it also became the first production motorcycle to feature front and rear radar.

Ducati also expanded the range of the Multistrada lineup a V2, V2 S, V4, V4 S, V4 Rally, and V4 Pikes Peak. But the top of the line model is the V4 RS, a Multi that Ducati designed to provided “track performance.” While the other V4 models utilize the “Granturismo” engine specifically designed for sport-touring and adventure needs, the V4 RS gets a Desmosedici Stradale powerplant like what’s found in Ducati’s Panigale lineup, tuned to make 180 horsepower. Ducati says the “V4 RS is the sportiest, most sophisticated, and most distinctive in the family.”

To help this model stand out from the rest of the lineup and excel in the street, Ducati bestowed the RS with Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, a model-specific technopolymer tail, lightweight lithium-ion battery, and additional carbon fiber pieces. An aluminum single-sided swingarm allows for a 190 profile tire (of course, there’s 17″ wheels front and rear to mount proper sports tires), and Brembo Stylema brakes with Ohlins electronic suspension and over 70 sensors for the top-tier electronic safety system keep help keep everything in check.

The RS is so sport-focused that it comes with a titanium subframe, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, and even a dry clutch.
