Taking aim squarely at Honda, Suzuki gave the new model its name — which is Japanese for peregrine falcon – for two reasons; one, because the peregrine falcon is the fastest bird on the planet; and two, because it happens to feed on blackbirds. True to its name, the Hayabusa ate Honda for breakfast, not only becoming the world’s fastest production motorcycle upon its release but doing so by a margin of a 10 mph.

The massive inline-four put down 175 hp and more than 100 ft-lbs of torque. With a dry weight of around 480lbs, that translated to 10.3-second standing quarter-mile runs, a 0-60 mph time of just under three seconds, and a top speed of up to 194 mph right out of the box. The powertrain and frame were backed up by 43mm inverted forks with titanium-nitride-coated inner fork tubes, a mono-shock, steering damper, and twin 320mm discs pinched by six-pot calipers.

After the Hayabusa’s release, there were talks of Europe banning the increasingly out-of-control-fast machines coming from the East. Things had reached a boiling point, and the Hayabusa was what turned up the dial on the proverbial stove. Not wanting to lose a key market, a “gentlemen’s agreement” was reached between manufacturers, capping top speeds (or at least speedo-readings) to 300km/h (or 186.4mph).

To celebrate a quarter century of production, Suzuki released a special edition ‘Busa with unique design elements. Adorned in Glass Blaze Orange and Glass Sparkle Black, the bike also comes with commemorative badging on the fuel tank and muffler, red V shaped logo on the fairings, gold anodized rotors and chain adjuster, and Hayabusa Kanji logo on the chain.

Manufactured July 2023, this example is VIN: JS1EJ11B0R7100185. The seller is the original owner and bought the bike new from a local Suzuki dealer and states, “I’ve owned Suzukis and Hayabusas for years. When I was told my local powersports store was getting one I had to have it. It had one mile when I got it. Rekluse put on the other 15 miles while they had it for testing. I do not ride much anymore and figured I would try to let someone else enjoy it.”

The odometer shows 16 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports no recent maintenance.

Modifications:
Per the seller, “Rekluse upgraded the clutch. Rekluse was looking for a test 2020 and newer Hayabusa to engineer new clutches for the bike. I let them use my bike for the testing and in return the told me I could have any clutch I wanted for the bike. So I opted for a better street clutch for it. I have the paperwork from Rekluse.”

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tires with date codes of 0923 and 2323.

The sale includes two keys, owner’s manual and single seat cowl.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller states there are no blemishes.
