Ducati Desmosedici Engine

Last year, we had a Ducati Desmosedici at our facility that was on consignment. Unfortunately, we had to take it down when Steve the Professor noticed that the freeze plugs were leaking. Desmosedicis take a special set of tools and we can’t justify the initial investment to get them, so the bike was sent to a west coast Desmosedici-certified mechanic.

At first it looked like the motor wasn’t fixable, but the owner had a significant ownership history with Ducati and was able to convince them to send him this motor to use and help make up for what proved to be a very expensive repair bill. Ducati called this a “test motor“.

The seller is letting this “test motor” go to recoup some of the cost he put into fixing the original motor.

We borescoped it and it looks good but we are unable to confirm the current running status.

The engine number is: ZDF8000180.
