Kevin Cameron and John Owens are two individuals steeped with motorcycle industry expertise. The former is an acclaimed technical writer, two-stroke tuner, and author of numerous engineering books, while the latter has photographed automotive and motorcycle competition since 1975, covering everything from the 24 Hours of Le Mans to the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races.

In “Superbike: An Illustrated Early History,” the pair puts their talents together, chronicling the infancy of Superbike racing and the various challenges that manufacturers faced in the pursuit of progress. The resulting hardcover spans 192 pages, featuring images depicting: notable tracks across the United States such as Daytona International Speedway, Laguna Seca Raceway, and Road America; legendary riders like Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, and Freddie Spencer; and up-close encounters with the crews, their equipment, and their machines.

As Ultimate Motorcycling said in their review, “Owens has covered professional motorcycle racing around the world, and his images, carefully curated and paired with Cameron’s insights by editor Matthew Miles, build the story with momentum, energy, and meticulous detail. Put these three motojournalism professionals together, and you have a landmark achievement in motorcycle literature.” If you’d like to learn more, check out the book’s webpage.

The book has been signed by Kevin Cameron and John Owens.
