Up until recently, Husqvarna had targeted two different riding extremes: the trendy urban crowd and the hard-core off-road enthusiasts. With the Norden 901, however, the storied Swedish brand made its first foray into the ADV category — billing it as the sort-of Swiss Army Knife of motorcycles.
In doing so, Husky borrowed a lot from the KTM 890 Adventure, including the LC8 890cc twin, the chromoly frame, the Apex WP suspension components, and even the Brembo brakes. Nevertheless, the bike is more than a styling exercise (though you can’t fail to notice its distinctly 80s- and 90s-era aesthetic). Subtle refinements here and there — like a reshaped tank, a more comfortable seat, and a more ergonomic riding position — mean that it manages to stand apart from its KTM-badged cousins.
Performance-wise, the Norden is packed to the gills with mile-eating potential. Its six-speed chain-driven transmission drives the bike along any hard-packed fire road, and the engine allows for more than enough power and torque to have fun in any scenario. A claimed 105hp at 8,000 rpm and 73ft-lbs of torque at 6,500rpm make the Husky a peppy and characteristic steed that can tackle pretty much anything you could throw at it.
