Loris Capirossi made his first foray into Grand Prix racing with Polini Honda in 1990. Right out of the gate, he was a force to be reckoned with in the 125cc class, taking 10 top six finishes, eight podiums, and three wins in Britain, Hungary, and Australia. At just 17 years old, his performance earned him a World Championship in his debut season. After defending his title the following year, he moved up to the 250cc class for 1992.

From that point onwards, Capirossi quickly rose through the ranks, finishing second and third overall in 1993 and 1994 — even despite his team fielding an older bike. By 1995, his efforts had earned him a spot with Pileri Honda in the 500cc championship. Though he ended up missing several races, he was still a consistent points finisher.

Following a brief return to the 250cc championship from 1997 to 1999, Loris Capirossi continued to race with Honda in the 500cc class. Unfortunately, his start in the four-stroke MotoGP era proved frustrating; between injury and inferior technology, he took few wins and finished as high as 7th in the championship.

For the 2003 season, Capirossi joined team Marlboro Ducati, where he kicked things off with a win at Barcelona and a fourth place finish in the championship. 2006 was a standout year for the Italian, though it was difficult to watch as a fan. A strong start to the season had him tied with Nicky Hayden for first, but a multiple bike collision at Barcelona made him fall in the points such that he could only race his way back up to third.

Come 2008, Loris Capirossi had signed with the Rizla Suzuki alongside Chris Vermulen. The only podium he had that year was at Brno, and an injury in Spain caused him to miss two races. He finished the season in tenth place, making it his lowest position since 1996. 2009 proved no better, as his season started with a crash in Qatar (when he was in second) and his slower Suzuki cost him first in Italy. Thus, he finished the season in ninth without a podium for the first time since 1992. Nevertheless, Capirossi persevered — in 2020, he became the first rider in the history of the sport to start 300 races.

This is a helmet from Loris Capirossi’s 2008 season with Suzuki.

It has been signed multiple times.

We believe it to be a size small.
