Bill Patterson is an artist living in Texas who is best known for his portrayals of motion — he’s painted everything from Formula 1, NASCAR, and Indycar to skiing, sailing, and cycling. Whatever the sport, he can be found in the winner’s circle close to the action.

This particular piece of art was commissioned and then painted on-site by Bill Patterson at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the MotoGP weekend in August 2009. Riding a Ducati GP9, Nicky Hayden finished third on the podium behind winner Jorge Lorenzo and runner-up Alex de Angelis.

Nicky always performed well during his home races in the USA; he could often be seeing riding around the track flying the American flag over his head. This patriotic painting depicts Hayden aboard his factory Ducati. It is canvas stretched over a wood frame that measures 36 inches tall by 48 inches wide.

The sale also includes a copy of the original commission drawing.

The reserve price includes shipping in the United States. Currently located in Kansas City, Missouri this painting is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
