Founded in Casalecchio di Reno outside Bologna in 1954, Berneg was the combination of two men Paride Bernardi and Corrado Negroni. The engine blocks were built in the Negroni factory and the frame, fuel tank, fender, etc were built a kilometer away at Bernardi.

The first model was called Iridea (Latin for rainbow trout) and became known as the Rainbow. The OHC 158cc parallel twin with chain-driven cam was paired with a 4-speed transmission producing 11hp and a top speed of 100kph (62mph).

The Italian motorcycle and moped industry suffered a crushing recession towards the end of the 1950s due to the influx of affordable cars like the Fiat 500. Bergen closed its doors in 1961 with approximately 300 Iridea being produced.

There is no VIN. Engine: 10028.

The odometer shows 2 miles, however the seller cannot confirm accuracy.
