Description

Additional photos of this Honda JC57 Benly are available here for your perusal.

In 1953, Honda debuted their first model under the “Benly” name – it came from the Japanese word “benri”, which means “convenient.”

The original model had a 89cc engine which produced 3.8 horsepower, but by 1957 the Benly was powered by a 125cc motor that made 8 horsepower.

It was launched in November 1956 for the following model year, and in addition to the constantly-evolving engine the JC57 got a leading-link front suspension with oil damping and new 18″ wheels.

As Canadian Biker put it, “if the later CB92 Benly (which this seller is also offering as a project) is all about performance, the JC57’s selling points are style, comfort and build quality.” Soichiro Honda visited NSU in 1954, and many motorcycling experts feel that heavily inspired the styling of this model.

This example is VIN: JC57740118. The seller acquired it as a restoration project at a Mid-America Auction in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003, but he does not have the time to restore the bike so he wants to find it a new home with someone that will bring it back to life.

There is no speedometer/odometer, true mileage is unknown.
