Additional photos of this 1969 Honda CL90 are available here for your perusal.
In Honda lore, “CL” was the prefix attached to the scrambler variant of a given displacement – CL90 was the off-roader sibling to the S90.
Scramblers were very popular in the United States in the late 60s, and Honda built this scrambler out of a street bike by giving it a taller exhaust with a heat shield, taller suspension, wider/stronger handlebars, off-road tires, and increased fender clearance.
It was powered by a 89cc air-cooled four-stroke engine paired with a 4-speed transmission.
This example is VIN: CL90222794. The seller is the nephew of the original owner, who recently passed away. The original owner purchased it 53 years ago from Crenshaw Honda.
The odometer shows 3,048 miles.
When this bike was delivered to us, we were able to get it running though the engine dies when giving it throttle. With that said, we were unable to get it started when shooting our usual set of photos and video. We believe this needs a carb clean.
Modifications:
The original key was lost in the past, and an electrical switch was installed to bypass the ignition. Iconic’s White Glove service can have an aftermarket key made if the next owner wishes.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please view the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Honda is offered on a clean California title. The tags expired decades ago and it is out of the CA DMV system.
