The CB400F wasn’t as fast as its competition, but it was smoother, quieter, and more efficient. It also had some of the most beautiful production exhaust headers ever built, which are known by some as “waterfall pipes.”

Featuring a relatively rare-for-the-time six-speed transmission, the CB400F was styled somewhat like a cafe racer and had an engine that produced 37 horsepower. Weighing just over 400 pounds, a rider could knock off the quarter mile in about 14.1 seconds. It’s a basic, classic bike that would be just fine serving as a lovely daily rider. For more information, check out this story on Motorcyclist where they call it “the first real sportbike.”

1976 models were available in either Light Ruby Red or the eye-catching Parakeet Yellow shown here.

This example is VIN: CB400F2000466. The seller acquired this bike in 2023 from a private party in Wisconsin.

The seller has not ridden the bike during his ownership. The odometer shows 3,440 miles.

Bought in a Honda parts collection for my parts business. It is a very clean low mile original bike.”
