OSSA was a Spanish firm that offered a wide variety of dirt bikes to cover anything that an off-road enthusiast could want to do. The Pioneer was OSSA’s enduro bike, though realistically the pavement experience was limited to putting around in town. In the dirt, it was quite capable for something that was street legal. In fact, in a 1969 Cycle World review, a “staff member was so impressed with the test bike, he bought an identical OSSA of his own.”

In 1975, OSSA replaced the Pioneer with the Super Pioneer, which was the lightest production enduro bike at the time (209 pounds dry). A period Cycle World review concluded that “there is no question that the Super Pioneer is a better bike than its predecessor, but it is far from the ideal motorcycle. Like the Pioneer, it’s suited to the occasional competitor and is perfect for the rider who wants to play on the weekends with a bike that requires little maintenance.”

To keep up with larger motors being introduced by their competition, OSSA quickly updated the model to become the Super Pioneer 350 – though the name was a little optimistic as the 32 horsepower two-stroke engine actually displaced 302cc.

Manufactured in April 1977, this example is VIN: 531337, Engine #: 531337.

The odometer shows 1,105 miles.
