In 1969, Honda released one of the most important motorcycles that would ever be sold in America – the Trail 70 (also known as the CT70). It was the first motorcycle for many of today’s riders, and nowadays it serves double duty as an excellent entrée into motorcycling as well as a lovely reminder of times gone by.

In the US, the CT70 was sold from 1969-1982, and again from 1991-1994. Very few changes were made over the years, though by 1978 Honda started to swap out some of the usual chrome parts for black plastic ones. By 1980, the mirrors, chain guard, and fenders were all plastic – and the traditional chrome “folding” handlebars had been swapped out for BMX style handlebars as well. All years shared a 72cc OHC 4-stroke engine.

This example is VIN: CT70E5103018. The seller bought this bike on January 9th, 2020 from a local collector in Southern California.

During his ownership, he has covered less than 200 miles. The odometer shows 1,965 miles.

“I bought this bike to dress it up to take to shows local cruise-in’s. It’s a head turner with added chrome and polished parts. It presents very well and is show ready. I had a lot of fun with it, now it’s time to let someone else enjoy it. I’m a collector and hobbyist, not a flipper. I have 10 other bikes, maybe make room for something else that catches my eye.” The owner recently sold a 1975 Honda XL175 that he restored through Iconic as well.

Maintenance:
“Annual oil changes, written down in my maintenance book which is included. A lot of receipts for parts purchased and installed. VP Racing 97 octane fuel, no ethanol gas used. Bike is started monthly and ridden around my neighorhood, or ridden at cruise-in’s and shows. Engine is oil tight, no leaks or weeps.”
