Description
In 1979 Honda introduced a series of lightweight motorcycles manufactured in Belgium, Spain, and Sweden, known as their MB and MT line. They were offered with 50cc and 80cc engines which were both restricted and unrestricted. These little bikes proved to be popular because of the interchangeable parts and ease at which a restricted bike could quickly become unrestricted.
Building on this successful platform, the MTX200R was released in 1983 and sold until 1988. It was powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke single with max output claimed to be 27 hp. Paired with a six-speed gearbox, the 266 pounder had a top speed of approximately 74 mph. Abhi once saw a MTX that had been converted into a ski bike at the Museu de la Moto in Andorra.
