Description

Additional photos of this Honda MBX50 are available here for your perusal.

Introduced in 1979, the MB (on-road) and MT (off-road) small motorcycles were initially launched in Europe and South Africa. They were offered in 50cc and 80cc versions (both two-stroke) and marketed as first bikes for teenagers (in SA, a 16-year old could start on a 50cc).

The 50cc engine produced a claimed 7 horsepower and 5 pound-feet of torque.

Standard features included a speedo, tach, front disc/rear drum brakes, and Comstar wheels.

Manufactured in October of 1985, this example is VIN: AC035000329.

The odometer shows 37,196 kilometers (23,112 miles).

This came to us from a collection in South Africa. The owner restored it as a display piece so it shows quite well, but if you’re planning to ride it Daniel found the following mechanical flaws. Take on the project yourself or have our Service Department quote out White Glove work for you if you wish! We cleaned the carb and fired it up but we are selling it as a non-runner.

-Idle screw bottomed out
-Throttle cable sticks & damaged
-Oil pump OK
-Needs #MGS12-3L-A battery
-Exhaust leaking

-Missing seat latch
-Tank dirty

-Missing clamp on intake boot
-Chain guard broken, rear tire backwards, brakes F 50%, R 0%, chain non-ring & loose

-No air filter
-Oil fill cap broken
-Open wires near battery
-Missing nut for shock
-Inspect steering head bearings
-Fuel cap cover broken
-Forks leaking
-Turn signals non-op

-Horn non-op
-LH switch damaged, LH mirror perch damaged, clutch lever incorrect

-Speedo stuck @ 15, cluster cracked, high beam turns on oil light
