Description
Click here for an CycleVIN Motorcycle History Report on this 1986 Suzuki GSX-R1100. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986.

It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.

Manufactured in April of 1986, this example is VIN: JS1GU74A5G2103292, Engine #: U703-103867. The seller acquired it two years ago from a private party in Washington state on Craigslist.

He acquired it as a project as has not ridden it. The odometer shows 17,640 miles.

The seller is a long-time client and friend of Iconic who “ became overzealous with my project intentions. I have realized that I cannot focus on more than 1 or 2 at the moment and I still have 6 or 7 to still complete or let go. I have done zero maintenance and have only stored the bike since receiving it for the previous owner. I would say this needs more than a general recommissioning. My approach is that everything needs to be looked at. It has a great aesthetic but appears that it will all need to be refurbished. Please have a look at the case behind the #2 and #3 cylinders as it appears to have had a repair.”

“I wanted this colorway in a 1100. It was a project bike from the get go. Hasn’t been run in years and my plan was to do a nut and bolt resto. The basic period upgrades have been started. I still believe it is a good base for what my intentions were but now for someone else that has the time and passion to bring it back to life.”
