While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986. It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.
1987 brought about minor tweaks that bumped horsepower up to 130 and new graphics available in blue/white or black/red.
The seller of this example (VIN: JS1GU74A7H2100427, Engine #: U703-106589) acquired it on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in April 2021.
He has covered 40 miles with it in his ownership. The odometer shows 27,773 miles.
It was repainted in 2009 and the decals (from RDdecals) have been clearcoated.
The fork legs and swingarm have been powdercoated black.
A previous owner from approximately two years ago noted that the bike had a tune-up which included a carb clean, oil change, KG Clutch Factory friction plates, new spark plugs, new Avon Storm tires, and a new battery installed. In 2014 it got new front/rear brake seals, pads, fluid, and braided lines. Before the auction in April, we performed a carb clean, installed a new Yuasa battery, and cleaned/oiled the air filters.
It also features a carbon fiber Yoshimura exhaust with jet kit and K&N pod filters.
Currently located in Caldwell, Idaho, this GSX-R is offered on a clean Idaho title. Have any GSX-R1100 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments below!
